I attended the Peru Conference at Harvard, organized by the Peruvian Students Association. The space brought together research, ideas, and lived experience in a way that felt thoughtful, rigorous, and grounded in what is happening both in Perú and beyond.

As a Peruvian who was replanted in the US, I move between worlds, in relationship with both and shaped by each. This is something many of us in the diaspora live quietly. We learn to translate contexts, to hold different ways of seeing, and to remain connected across places that continue to inform who we are and how we contribute.

In Awaken Your Roots, I draw from Andean wisdom and ongoing research to explore this way of living. From this perspective, life is understood through relationship to land, lineage, and community. Belonging is not about choosing one place over another, but about how we remain in reciprocity with what we are part of.

The question is not only how we adapt, but what becomes possible when we remain in relationship with both, in reciprocity, contributing to each as we are transformed by both.

I leave with pride and a sense of hope for the human potential we carry, not only individually, but collectively, as we continue shaping our Peruvian society, contributing to U.S. society, and showing up in the world from where we each stand.

It is about how we choose to live that awareness in relationship.
