GET TO KNOW ME
My name is Lorena. I am a therapeutic movement educator, holistic coach, writer and mental health advocator. With nearly two decades of experience in the field of holistic health and wellness, I have facilitated and led bilingual (English and Spanish) trainings, mindfulness retreats, sound therapy sessions and workshops in multiple locations throughout the United States and South America.
As a Peruvian and Wisdom Keeper of my mestizo-Andean blood, I have been exposed since childhood to complementary and spiritual methods of interconnection closely linked to self-healing, self-empowerment and the search for harmony between the physical and etheric body. Through years of study and pragmatic application of integrated therapies I have been able to respectfully fuse concepts of ancient philosophies and make my teaching methodology accessible, culturally sustainable for my students and clients.
As an expert in trauma informed and grief care, I believe in the inclusive effect of Ancestral Medicine and I seek equality in health as fundamental right for all human beings. This is reflected in my motivational style and pedagogical techniques that blend the physical and holistic aspects, making my commitment for accompany the healing process to others effective.
After years self-advocacy on self-care, in 2014 I founded the bilingual Integrated School of Mindfulness and Yoga the Holistic Centre Hanaq Prana Studio. Over the last few years I have graduated dozens of qualified teachers. In 2015 I created the teaching method, "Vivir en Plenitud" as a response of the lack of mindfulness educational resources that addressed the very specific characteristics of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder for Latino immigrants in the United States.
Presently, through my writing and community outreach I dedicate my work and time to educate others about the importance of cultural intersectionality in healing spaces.
I am a life-long, dedicated, and passionate student and received training and credentials from prominent institutions like Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health and, international teachers in multiple modalities. I honor and thanks each of my teachers for their knowledge including; Tara Brach PhD, Jonathan Foust, Yoganand Michael Carroll, Jon Kabat-Zinn PhD, Jack Kornfield, Seane Corn, Shiva Rea, Sudha Carolyn Lundeen, Bob Butera PhD, Jennifer Kreatsoulas PhD, Erin Byron, Staffan Elgelid PhD, Dr. Gurmukh Kaur Khalsa, Jennifer Hilbert, Marsha D. Banks-Harold, Erika Tenenbaum, Judith Lasater PhD, Steven Leonard, Michelle Dalbec, Janna Delgado, Anodea Judith, PhD, Richard Miller PhD, Ruth King and Resmaa Menakem.
I will also indebted with my spiritual and ancient wisdom teachers, who have so humbly shared their wisdom and love, including: Doña Rosa Graciela, medicine woman and, keeper of the Peruvian ancient wisdom and, Rev. Maricela Noble, Rev. Maria Antonieta Revello for the teachings of healing energy.

Currently, I live in the Washington, DC area with my husband, a recently retired Navy officer, and work with private clients and corporate groups. I enjoy traveling so when I'm not somewhere in the world teaching or on retreats, you can find me reading books or spending time with my husband and enjoying the life outdoors with my boys.
The sky of the Sacred Valley is the perfect setting to thank my grandmothers for having shown me a series of powerful processes that I apply in my daily life. Their teaching are fundamental in my healing path. Most importantly, I am grateful for having taught me to believe in the wisdom of the Mother Earth, the intervention of The Divine and the power of my ancestors that live within me.
this is what my students say about me
This is my second training with Lorena, and as always she shared her passion and knowledge with us.
If you are looking to practice mindful movement with a friendly, caring and inviting teacher, she is the one for you.
Her "Therapeutic Movement" training was excellent, Lorena's planning and knowledge of this style of teaching is evident.
